Discussion topics

SM – EAD and DACs is her world. Conversations started around 2008-09 to see if New York could aggregate data in a way that had been done in California.

SJM – working on a music project to make paperwork (planning programs from churches who have their music selections written down.) discoverable.

DG – Has a bunch of pdfs from scanned documents and needs to know where to go next.

SM – EAD keeps things in context.

Social tagging – sort of the bane of cataloger’s perfection. The National Archives has it implemented in a large-scale way.

LM - Is metadata a way to get more local history into the local library?

Fulton newspapers – millions of pages that are completely unsustainable.

AS - Vassar diaries, many written in cursive. Librarians are writing descriptions and subject headings.
